July 5

We'll leave Cardiff at 10am bound for the National Waterfront Museum (Wales' newest museum) in Swansea. This museum charts the history and importance of Wales during the industrial revolution. Wales was one of the earliest and most heavily industrialised nations on earth. 'We reaped the benefits, but we suffered the consequences too'.

Following lunch we'll head for the coast at Gower, UK's first designated area of outstanding natural beauty. We'll visit a number of places on this peninsula including Port Eynon and Rhossilli. Here you'll have time to wander the stunning coastline and learn about Arthurian legend. From here we'll head to Tenby, in Pembrokeshire National Park, and our accommodation for the night.

July 6

You will have a couple of hours this morning to explore the castle-walled town of Tenby. Beguilingly old-fashioned, with narrow streets that duck and wind downhill from the medieval centre to the harbour and the island-studded seascape, this small town is the principal tourist centre of Pembrokeshire National Park. We will visit a 6th century hermit church, a stone age burial ground, then the best beach in Britain and according to the Rough Guide 'one of the best beaches in Europe' at Barafundle, and just wander along the spectacularly stunning coastline. Then its onto the home of the Tudors at Pembroke Castle. We will then head for the smallest city in the UK at St Davids. This enchanting village is dominated by a hulking cathedral. We will then head back to the hotel.

July 7

This morning we will head for the Brecon Beacons National Park. Along the way we will stop at beautiful waterfalls in the Neath Valley, and then onto Penderyn Whiskey Distillery for some tasting. We will then get to the mountains of the Beacons where you will have time to experience the amazing views on offer. Its then to Big Pit mining museum, where you will be given the opportunity to descend into a working coalmine. This museum is regularly voted the best museum in the UK. Return to Cardiff by 6pm.
