Christmas 2009
Explore Wales are putting together a Christmas Special Tour. This trip will take you to the best bits of South Wales over a 5-day (4 night) period. We will be staying in a traditional welsh farmhouse cottage (5*) in deepest West Wales (pentrefarmholidays). This region is a strong welsh speaking area and has been specially picked to ensure that you have an unique Celtic Christmas!
ITINERARY
December 23rd – collection from London early morning, or any point west, bound for Wales. We will don our miner’s helmet and lamp and descend a real working coalmine before lunch. Then onto Brecon Beacons National Park and if the weather is favourable a chance to walk the highest peak in southern Britain before arriving at Cardiff Backpackers. The night is yours, but since it’s a Wednesday night we strongly recommend a night on the town in Europe’s fastest growing Capital City.
December 24th – Pick up Cardiff after your free breakfast at mid-day giving you time to explore the city and castle. Its then onto the beautiful yet rugged Gower Peninsula – King Arthur Legend and smugglers hideout before heading to the outskirts of Lampeter (west Wales) our base for the next 3 nights. We will cook you a hearty meal for a cosy night in. Fingers crossed we may even experience a Welsh snowfall in time for santa!
December 25th – Merry Christmas! For those of you not too hungover we will take you to a Welsh speaking Christmas chapel service where you will meet the village locals before heading back home for Secret Santa and a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. The afternoon will be spent walking/sleeping/eating before going to the local 400 year old Welsh pub for some beverages in front of the blazing fire.
December 26th – First stop will be a traditional Fox Hunt before heading to Llanddewi Brefi – made famous by Little Briatin’s Dafydd-the-only-gay-in-the-village. Its then to the pub and rugby match and by this time, you will be the talk of the town and we will drink, dance, sing and laugh with the locals! The night will be your choice of activities – cottage, local pub, rugby club or restaurant.

December 27th – After a lie-in we’re
off to Pembrokeshire National Park and a look into a 6th century hermit church
before a wander in the castled town of Tenby. Its then back to the big smoke
of London arriving by 8pm.
The price of the trip will be £295. Everything (food (except evening
meal on day 1) accommodation, drinks, light lunches, breakfasts and snacks)
except castle entry and meal on the first night is included in the price.
