Explore Wales are putting together a New Year Special Tour 2008. This trip
will take you to the best bits of South Wales over a 4-day (3 night) period.
Due to the colder weather we have arranged alternative accommodation to
camping. We will be staying in a traditional Welsh bunkhouse cottage in
deepest West Wales (pentrefarmholidays).
This region is a strong Welsh speaking area and has been specially picked
to ensure that you have a unique Celtic New Year experience!
ITINERARY
December 29th – Collection from London at 7.00am. We will don
our miner’s helmet and lamp and descend a real working coal mine before
lunch. Then onto Aberfan Memorial, Caerphilly Castle (biggest in Europe),
Castell Coch (fully restored fantasy castle) before arriving at Cardiff Backpackers.
The night is yours, but we strongly recommend a night on the town, in Europe’s
fastest growing Capital City.
December 30th – Pick up at Cardiff Backpackers after your free breakfast at 10.30am. Onto the beautiful yet rugged Gower Peninsula – King Arthur Legend and smugglers hideout. Its then onto the castled town of Tenby and a 6th century hermit church before heading to the outskirts of Lampeter (West Wales) our base for the next 2 nights. We will cook you a hearty meal for a cosy night in.
December 31st – A hearty breakfast then onto Aberystwyth and Devils Bridge before lunching and heading back to base. En route we will stop at Llanddewi Brefi – made famous by Little Briatin’s Dafydd-the-only-gay-in-the-village. The New Year countdown! The afternoon will be spent walking/sleeping/eating before going to the local 400 year old Welsh pub for some beverages in front of the blazing fire.

We will then have a buffet and drink, sing and dance with the locals as we celebrate the New Year' January 1st.
January 1st–
After a lie-in and a hearty breakfast it's off to the Brecon Beacon National Park and a walk up the highest point in Southern Britain. We will then explore Stone-Age burial grounds and marvel at the views of this stunning location before visiting historical Drovers towns. After all this fresh air, it's then back to the big smoke of London, hoping to arrive by 7-8pm.
